Nutrition Stabilization Center

The Nutrition Stabilization Center (NSC) in Shaheed Benazirabad is a vital healthcare facility that provides essential services aimed at improving the nutritional health of the local population, particularly children and pregnant women facing malnutrition. This center offers a range of services, including medical nutrition therapy, specialized feeding programs, and regular monitoring of patients' nutritional status. The NSC works towards the stabilization of severely malnourished individuals by providing therapeutic feeding, micronutrient supplementation, and counseling on dietary practices. One of the key objectives of the center is to reduce the rates of malnutrition and prevent the long-term health consequences associated with it, such as stunting and wasting. The center also focuses on educating the community about the importance of proper nutrition and improving access to nutrient-rich food. The Nutrition Stabilization Center offers substantial benefits to the residents of Shaheed Benazirabad district, especially through its comprehensive approach to addressing malnutrition and its complications, which directly contributes to better health outcomes for mothers and children. This facility is managed under the Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health (MNCH) Program, which operates under the auspices of Peoples University of Medical and Health Sciences (PUMHS) and the Government of Sindh. The MNCH program is directed by Professor Ali Akbar Siyal, the Dean of Medicine and Health Sciences at PUMHS, who plays a pivotal role in overseeing the operations and ensuring that the center meets its objectives effectively.
