The Department of Information Technology was established in 2011 with the goal of providing reliable IT services to our esteemed students, faculty, officers, and staff. Initially, the Learning Resources Center, equipped with 20 computers for student use and utilizing DSL internet, was established by Peoples Medical College. As the institution evolved into Peoples University of Medical & Health Sciences for Women-Shaheed Benazirabad, the IT Department was officially inaugurated in 2011 under the leadership of Dr. Sikandar Adil Mughal.

Since its inception, the department has achieved significant milestones. Dr. Mughal led the installation of the PERN Service with a speed of 20Mbps, established the IT Laboratory with 30 computers and Wi-Fi, and conducted numerous workshops. Subsequent leaders, such as Mr. Ali Raza Brohi and Prof Dr. Muhammad Saleh Khaskheli, who served as the registrar of the university at that time, signed an agreement with HEC in 2015 for the Smart Safe Campus Project. This project was later implemented by HEC at the main campus named Eduroam in 2019. Vice Chancellors, Prof. Dr. Azam Hussain Yousfani, also played a crucial role in this setup, resulting in an increase in bandwidth to 200Mbps after the Eduroam setup.

Furthermore, the department's capabilities were enhanced through initiatives such as the Digital Library setup and Wi-Fi facilities for students before the Eduroam setup. In 2014, Late Dr. Abdul Rahi Solangi, during his tenure, initiated and completed the Video Conference Setup, along with the initiation of network infrastructure.
Dr. Abdul Manan Soomro, during his tenure, established the IT Academy setup, providing training to faculty and students and facilitating online exams.
In 2017, our first IT Director joined and led further advancements, including the implementation of IT Laboratory upgrades, Network Infrastructure upgrades, the launch of the IT Card Facility, and the establishment of Smart Classrooms. Additionally, a new IT Department setup was established at the new campus. Several projects are currently underway.

The success of these endeavors can be attributed to the dedicated efforts of our entire IT department team, comprising officers and staff, who have worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth operation of our services. Our vision is to inspire, innovate, and empower through technology, fostering a dynamic learning and working environments for all.
